NetEnt’s Gonzo’s Quest is one of the most exciting titles that users can play for free at social sweeps casinos. This Gonzo’s Quest fun facts post will give players all the inside details about the game that they may not have noticed the first time around. New to the game? Start with our complete Gonzo’s Quest slot guide →.

Fact 1: Wilds Can’t Land on the First or Last Reel

In Gonzo’s Quest, the special Wild Symbol can substitute for all symbols to give players the most valuable winning combination on the winline it is active in. However, players should take note that certain symbols have special rules that restrict their availability in the base game.

The special Wild Symbol can only appear on reels 2, 3, and 4. In other words, reels 1 and 5 (the two reels on the very ends) can never produce a Wild for a clutch win. This means that for every big win, players still need real symbols on the edges. It’s important to note this symbol restriction, as most players don’t notice this detail until they wonder why a Wild didn’t save a near-miss on reel 5.

Fact 2: The Main Game Multiplier Caps at 5x

In the base game, players can achieve a maximum Avalanche feature multiplier of 5x. At the beginning of this feature, the multiplier starts at a default of 1x. However, if the player lands on another win, triggering the Avalanche feature again, the multiplier will go up by 1. Each consecutive Avalanche Feature trigger will bump the multiplier up by 1. This multiplier feature caps out at 5x after four consecutive Avalanche triggers.

While the multiplier caps at 5x, players can still keep the 5x multiplier going until the chain breaks.

Fact 3: Free Falls Multiplier Starts at 3x – Not 1x

In the base game, the Avalanche Feature Multiplier starts at 1x and caps at a maximum of 5x. However, if players manage to trigger the Free Falls feature, the Avalanche feature multiplier will start at 3x.

Each time the player triggers the Avalanche feature, the multiplier will go up by 3, instead of 1. This feature works similarly to the multiplier in the base game and will max out at four consecutive avalanche feature triggers. The maximum multiplier players can achieve in the Free Falls feature is a whopping 15x.

Fact 4: The Multiplier Resets When the Chain Breaks

The Avalanche feature multiplier does not carry over through losing spins. Once a player hits a spin that does not have at least one winning combination of symbols in a valid winline, the multiplier will reset. This is true for both the base game and the Free Falls feature.

However, it is worth noting that the default multiplier in the base game is different from the default multiplier in the free falls feature. Once a player lands on a losing spin in the base game, the multiplier will reset to the default of 1x. Meanwhile, if a player lands on a losing spin during the Free Falls feature, the multiplier will reset to a default of 3x.

Fact 5: Three Free Fall Symbols Must Land in a Row from Reel 1

The scatter trigger is trickier than it may seem. The free fall symbols have a very specific place on the grid where they must land, or they won’t trigger the free fall feature. The Free Falls feature will only trigger if the Free Fall symbols land on reels 1, 2, and 3 consecutively. This succession must start from the leftmost reel for the trigger to be valid. If players land on free fall symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4, for example, the bonus feature will not trigger.

Fact 6: Free Falls Can Retrigger Mid-Round

During a Free Falls round, players can actually retrigger the Free Falls feature again if they are lucky enough to land on three (validly placed) Free Fall symbols. If players do manage to land another Free Falls trigger, they’ll get another 10 spins. The current multiplier the player has will stay on the board and carry over to the new set of Free Falls spins.

Fact 7: 20 Fixed Lines — You Can’t Change Them

While some slot titles allow players to adjust the number of winlines that are active, Gonzo’s Quest does not. Gonzo’s Quest has a fixed number of winlines, meaning that players must play with all 20 winlines active for every single spin. Even with a minimum Gold Coin play of 2,000 GCs, players are automatically covering all 20 lines. When playing for a maximum of 200,000 GCs, this will then increase the symbol values.

However, players can still control their play by adjusting their play size, as it is the only variable they can change.
